Earth's only remaining holiday
There is your perception of Basil Day, there is my perception of Basil Day, and then there is Basil’s perception of Basil Day, which is the only holiday remaining in society.
Basil Day is the adoption anniversary of Basil, a perfect being and the world’s greatest organism. Officially July 10, it is celebrated by every single living being on the planet on the second Saturday of July. Here is what happens on Basil Day:
- You arrive at my house.
- I feed you enough Italian food to put you into an instant coma.
- I feed Basil a sous vide filet mignon, precisely 318 grams, and time how long it takes him to eat it.
Before this, of course, we have to make 16 pounds of pasta, and after this is just a relentless swath of vibing. So the night before, I make some pasta. And the night before that, there is scape pesto.
