New era/what’s next/meta-text

I threw a garage sale the other day and, because I have taste, it was wildly successful. Pretty much everybody bought something, and I ended up with enough money from it that I don’t regret blowing a day dying softly in the sun. Most importantly, the objects I sold there will now have new lives in new places with new people, rather than rotting out in my garage.

In the meantime, there has been news, not much of it good, and there’s not much else to do other than point to the new rules and continue to not buy things. Most of what I buy now is either consumable or to replace something that broke. I look at my tech and think: I can keep this going. I look at my clothes and think: I will stop buying clothes. I look at my housewares and think: I could buy more plants, but otherwise I have everything I need.

There was a period over the past couple of years where a few big projects happened where buying stuff was required to be on the table. I transformed small bits of the house, little surgical strikes. Overhauled my appearance: new clothes, mohawk, an actual functional skincare routine. And now we sit in stillness, ready for whatever else is coming.

To recap, over text’s existence, I:

  • Wrote a lot about cocktails, then mostly stopped drinking
  • Wrote a lot about gear, then America own-goaled
  • Wrote a little about the complexity relations, then cleaned up the psychic noise in my life

And so: what’s left? Work is a boring answer. Food is a much better answer. So is music, which I’ve written very little about on here, despite my interest in it. Writing longer-term reviews (living with X for 1 year+) is always on the table. Those are a few intentions, but if you’re looking for anything else, now’s a good time for suggestions.
