Right plant, right time
There’s a certain genre of produce that looks, on face, to be sort of boring, but when in season it is the complete opposite. Or it’s boring in most places, but when in season in a certain place it gains some magic. Things like lettuce or peas can be maligned because they are mostly just misunderstood, eaten out of season, the wrong varietal, frozen or preserved.
We’ve written some text about this a couple of times. My friend & frequent collaborator Rachel were talking about this once, and as a result we made a zine about strawberries. You can get it right now. (It’s at the bottom there.)
Why strawberries?
Oh sure, you might think strawberries are the best part of June’s harvest. Many, many people have not been similarly converted.
