I recently received a bit of a jump scare when using software. The main word processor that powers my consultancy has fallen victim to platform collapse. I opened it to a dialog that says it will no longer be updated. The new version is redesigned, and many of its features are both structurally unnecessary and hidden behind a subscription. Same with the spreadsheet & presentation apps, which are also important for my consultancy but maybe a little less so.
